Trace the history of King Cotton and see mementos of World War II hero, Audie Murphy, at the Audie Murphy/American Cotton Museum. Follow the trail of history from the world’s largest inland cotton compress to our lovely Victorian homes.

Visit unusual boutiques and antique shops and tour a world famous candy kitchen. Spend a few moments studying the Peace Garden’s huge sculptures and stained glass windows glowing like jewels in an 1898 church.

Hook a big one, spend a few lazy hours by the water at some of the state’s best fishing lakes, or play a round of golf at one of four area courses. Bird the lakes, parks, and fields. Then take a look at the native tall grass prairie of yesteryear at Mathews Prairie Preserve.

Join us for fun family events from the Native American Pow Wow in January to the Cotton Patch Bicycle Rally in the fall and the wagon rides and Victorian Lantern Parade at Christmas.

Enjoy a delicious meal at a local eatery and end your day with a restful stay at one of our comfy motels or bed and breakfasts.
