Step back in time in Jefferson, Texas. Situated on Big Cypress Bayou, between Lake O the Pines and Caddo Lake, Jefferson was an early center of Texas commerce and has been described as the Riverport To The Southwest. At one time the city could boast being the second largest port in Texas, with only Galveston handling more ships.

Building on its history, Jefferson offers a full days schedule of things to do and see. Tour historic homes, the famous Excelsior House Hotel, Jay Goulds private railroad car, and two local history museums. Take a boat ride on Cypress Bayou or take a tour in a horse-drawn romantic carriage.

Shop more than 45 antique and gift shops for a special treasure. A wide variety of antiques is offered, along with gift and craft items of all shapes and sizes. Also available are golfing, fishing and hunting.

Dine in Jefferson at one of the many cafes and restaurants with a wide variety of foods ranging from casual to fine dining. Enjoy the best in Italian, Continental or TexMex. After a delightful meal, enjoy live music downtown, and then relax for the evening at one of Jeffersons historic hotels or lovely bed and breakfasts.
